PM MARAPE IN BRISBANE TO OPEN 2026 PNG INVESTMENT CONFERENCE

Prime Minister Hon. James Marape has travelled to Brisbane, Australia, to officially open the 2026 Papua New Guinea Investment Conference tomorrow morning.

The two-day conference, organised by Business Advantage International, will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on August 10–11 and is expected to attract between 250 and 300 delegates, including senior business leaders, investors and representatives of development and industry organisations.

Now in its 14th year, the conference promotes investment and business opportunities across Papua New Guinea and provides an important platform for PNG businesses to engage with Australian and international investors.

Prime Minister Marape said his attendance reinforces the Government’s message that Papua New Guinea is open for business and welcomes stronger trade, investment and business partnerships with Australia and the wider international community.

“Papua New Guinea and Australia share a strong and enduring relationship. We want to continue strengthening the economic dimension of that relationship by encouraging greater investment, trade and business-to-business partnerships,” Prime Minister Marape said.

“I will speak directly to investors about our economy, the progress of major resource projects and the work our Government is undertaking to improve the business and investment environment in Papua New Guinea.

“We have enormous opportunities across mining, petroleum and LNG, agriculture, fisheries, forestry, tourism, infrastructure, financial services, construction and ICT, and we welcome genuine investors who want to partner with Papua New Guinea.”

This year’s conference will also focus on artificial intelligence, human capital and skills development, while infrastructure development will be a major focus on the second day.

Prime Minister Marape will deliver the official opening address at 9am tomorrow and return to Papua New Guinea later in the day.
