Prime Minister Marape commends K92 Mining Ltd on Strong Q3 Financial Performance

Prime Minister Hon. James Marape today welcomed the announcement by K92 Mining Ltd of its stronger third-quarter Financial Results for 2025, describing the achievement as “a positive reflection of Investor confidence, responsible resource development, and Papua New Guinea’s strong Economic Outlook as we move forward.”

K92 Mining Ltd, operator of the Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province, reported significant improvement in Gold production, operational performance, and financial outcomes in the third quarter of 2025.

The company noted the advancement of its Stage 3 Expansion, increased efficiency, and strengthened production capacity as key contributors to its current results.

Prime Minister Marape said the updates provide encouraging signs for PNG’s resource industry and signal a maturing investment environment as the country continues to position itself as a globally competitive destination for mining and energy ventures.

“I commend K92 Mining Ltd for its continued commitment to responsible operations, investment in expansion, and contribution to our domestic economy,” PM Marape said. “These quarterly results show that when investors work collaboratively with the State, landowners, and local communities, we can achieve outcomes that benefit all parties. K92’s performance is a testament to what sound partnership can deliver.”

The Prime Minister also acknowledged K92 Mining’s steady progress on the multi-year Stage 3 Expansion, expected to further increase mine capacity, employment opportunities, contractor participation, and provincial revenue flow to Eastern Highlands.

“K92 Mining’s Stage 3 Expansion represents the kind of forward-looking, large-scale investment our Government is encouraging across the Resource Sector,” PM Marape stated. “This is aligned with our goal to increase downstream benefits, broaden local participation, and create more value within Papua New Guinea rather than exporting opportunity overseas.”

He noted that the Mining Company’s positive outlook—combined with stable gold prices and strong project economics—places Kainantu Mine among PNG’s promising long-term mineral producers.

PM Marape further highlighted the Government’s commitment to ensuring that Resource Projects contribute meaningfully to community development, infrastructure improvements, and economic diversification.

“Our people must feel the benefits of every Resource Project in real and tangible ways,” he said. “We expect all Investors to follow K92’s example by investing not only in extraction, but in our communities, our workforce, and our nation’s capacity to grow.”

The Prime Minister added that the Marape–Rosso Government’s legislative and policy reforms— including amendments to resource laws, investments in regulatory strengthening, and the promotion of local content—are intended to create a more predictable and fair business environment for companies such as K92 Mining Ltd while safeguarding national interests.

“Our Government is working to ensure that PNG becomes the best place in the Pacific to responsibly invest in Mining and Energy,” PM Marape said. “We welcome companies like K92 that demonstrate confidence in our nation and choose to expand their operations here. Their contribution is critical as PNG prepares for increased economic activity across multiple sectors.”

Reflecting on the broader Economic Outlook, Prime Minister Marape said the nation is entering a period of renewed momentum driven by several large Resource Projects, including Papua LNG, Wafi-Golpu, P’nyang Gas, and the expansion of existing Mines.

“The positive third-quarter Results by K92 Mining add to the strong national economic narrative we are building as we prepare for transformative projects in 2026 and beyond,” he said. “With disciplined management, responsible development, and continued partnership between Government, investors, and landowners, PNG is on track for a brighter and more prosperous future.”

Prime Minister Marape concluded by reaffirming the Government’s support for K92 Mining Ltd and its operations in Eastern Highlands Province, expressing confidence that the Company will remain a valued contributor to PNG’s economic growth, employment creation, and long-term development.
