Ministerial Services 

Functions

  1. Provide support services mandated under the Official Personal Staff Act (Chapter 383) and administered through the Official Personal Staff Determination and the Prime Minister as the approving authority;
  2. Implement the Official Personal Staff Determination (OPSD) in consultation with the Office of the Prime Minister including appointments and termination of staff, staff movement (promotions and demotions), gratuity payments and processing of al types of leave for Ministerial Staff;
  3. Provide supporting role in the operationalization of the PNG Vision 2050; and
  4. Administer and coordinate all official domestic and international travel for Government Ministers and their delegation and ensure reports are submitted (Function to be reviewed).

 Objectives

The main objective of the Ministerial Services Office is to be an oversight on all matters regarding the Official Personal Staff Determination (OPSD). The responsibility to ‘hire and fire’ is the prerogative of the Prime Minister as the appointing authority as specified in the Determination.

 Corporate Objective:

To provide effective and efficient corporate and other support services to the Prime Minister, the Governor General, the National Executive Council, Ministers, Ministerial Committees, and the Department.
